When is the event?

July 10-12, 2018. Starting time will be when the skyvan shows up, which we expect to be around 1pm Friday afternoon. Loads will be flying all weekend until sundown on Sunday night.

Des Moines Skydivers dropzone at Winterset Municipal Airport in Iowa.

Is registration required for experienced jumpers?

Yes. We have two separate registration links, one for female and one for male. Registration includes a catered meal. It's $10 more for the ladies because you will receive an event razorback tank-top. Tank tops are only guaranteed to those who register prior to June 26. You will be required to fill out your waiver online. Please complete the waiver HERE.

If I'm not an experienced jumper, can I do a tandem jump during this event?

Absolutely! You can schedule your tandem jump through our normal booking process. Be sure to book during the event, which runs from July 10-12. Click here to start that process!

What is required upon check-in at the event?

Your current non-expired USPA card, your rig and your packing card. All rigs will be checked and tagged and you will not be allowed to board the aircraft without a rig tag.

 

Is there a theme?

Absolutely! Cowgirls and Indians is this year's theme.

What is the schedule of events?

Friday, July 10

12:00pm - Registration opens - Pick-up goodie bag, verify USPA and rig packing card

 1:00pm - Aircraft arrives and jumping starts! Meet with LO's for all discipline & skill level jumps.

 8:00pm - Meet the load organizers 

 8:15pm - SIS Activity "Empowering Women in Skydiving" (ladies only)

Saturday July 11

 7:30am - Yoga with Tara

 8:00am - Organized jumping begins. SIS vs SIS (Sisters in Skydiving vs. Studs in Skydiving) contest

10:00am - Pajama jump (wear PJ's or onesies before it gets too hot!)

 9:00pm - Catered dinner

 9:15pm  - Raffle and prize drawings

 9:30pm - Band starts - Katy Guillen & the Girls

Sunday July 13

 7:30am - Yoga with Tara

 8:00am - SIS group photo

 8:30am - Organized jumping begins, Women's state record attempts

Yes! We have some awesome prizes from PD and Cookie.

What about food?

We will have TBD available from 10:30am until 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. We will be catering a delicious meal for Saturday night. 

 
Who are the load organizers?

Julie Kleinwort, Amanda Kubik and Ashleigh Hartman. These ladies cover all disciplines.

What is the aircraft and how much are jump tickets?

We will be flying WIN's skyvan and jump tickets will be $26 to 13,000 ft AGL.

What is the elevation at the DZ?

Approx 1,100 above sea-level.

Where can I camp/crash?

We have a climate controlled indoor loft that's available on a first-come first-serve basis. Tent camping will be allowed for this event on the airport property in designated areas. There are two restrooms inside the hangar with showers. There will be a sign up list so please wait your turn. There is also the City Park Campgrounds - only 3.6 miles away.

Where are the closest hotels?

Cobblestone Inn & Suites - 1.7 miles from DZ - we have 15 rooms blocked for this event at a reduced rate of $80/night. Be sure to mention it's for the Des Moines Skydivers event.
Covered Bridge Inn - 2.9 miles from DZ

Where is the closest commercial airport?

Des Moines International (DSM) is the closest airport for airlines. It's about a 30 minute drive to Winterset.
